2 To Two

Two things I will no longer do:

I will no longer question how the homeless person will spend his/her money. Sometimes the best kind of kindness is the one without conditions.

I will no longer refuse to take flyers from the people passing them out. It is their job to pass out papers all day long, and every “no, thank you” is a rejection, I would hate to be rejected all day.

Two things I realized about helping others:

It can sometimes be a thankless job. But serving justice and righting a wrong is rewarding all in itself, even if the person that you’re helping yells at you every time you speak with her.

Sometimes lending an ear to a client’s ramblings is the best way you can help them. Like a good apology, having someone there to listen to your woes is priceless.

Two things I am glad about leaving the organization:

More time for me. I can now watch “The View” in the morning instead of rushing to work.

More time for me. I can now take in the quietness of the morning instead of the ambitions of downtown professionals.
